Blog Philosophy

As an avid reader, I believe that everyone should read something on a regular basis. Doesn’t have to be fiction. Doesn’t even have to be a book. Just something to keep your heart engaged and your mind learning.

As a teacher, I believe that parents should be aware of what their children are reading, whether is is for pleasure or something that they were assigned at school. While I don’t believe in banning books, I do believe that adults should be able to have meaningful conversations with young people about the tough issues that often come up in literature.

As a Christian, I believe that all reading is permissible, but not all reading is beneficial (1 Cor. 6:12).

My purpose in this blog is to share my reading with those looking for a good book to read or trying to quickly figure out the content of a book. My reviews are by no means comprehensive, but I try to highlight the strong and weak points, from a literary perspective. I also mention any objectionable material from a Christian or conservative standpoint. (I mean conservative in the moral context, not in the political context.)

I believe that literature, in it’s many forms, can be a great source of enjoyment and enlightenment. I also believe that it can be an excellent way to broach topics with young people that we otherwise might gloss over or completely forget to discuss. If you find this at all valuable, please let me know.
