Small Projects
My Vogue stockings are finished for all intents and purposes. Â I still have to experiment with the elastic in the ribbing to see if that will do or if I just want a ribbon to use as a garter, but the knitting itself is done. Â They are very cute, however, with the current width of my calves, they are more like knee socks than thigh-high stockings. Â They have to stretch to much width wise to get up to my thighs, which is actually fine with me, because I find that knee socks are more comfortable for me anyway.
So, since I finished a pair of socks, I started a pair of socks. Â I’m using a free pattern called cubist socks. Â They are turning out to be really adorable. Â I’ve had to shorten the leg quite a bit, again because of my calf issue, but again that doesn’t bother me.
But then I broke my rule and started yet another project. Â It’s short though, so maybe it doesn’t count in the grand scheme of things. Â I decided to use up the leftover yarn from the Vogue stockings to make a beret. Â Actually, I started using other leftover sock yarn, but I didn’t like how it was turning out–the acrylic yarn seems to be a better fit for the beret than the wool, making it much softer.
