I wore the Aragon Tunic for the first time today and have some updates on how it has turned out.

First off, it is so incredibly comfortable and cute.  The yarn is so nice (Lyndon Hill by Bristol Yarn Gallery).  My only issue at this point is still with the belt.  Blocking didn’t help the fold-over issue so much, since the warmth and contours of my body just made if fold again.  Maybe some starch would help, but I’m thinking that this may just be a flaw, not with the design, but with my body shape (i.e. if I had a nice flat stomach, this wouldn’t be a problem).  The other issue is that my belt has a tendancy to slide down a bit.  I’m thinking that this is because I used a satin stripe ribbon as the backing instead of grograin, though I suspect that grograin would only ease, not solve, the problem.  I’m thinking that the best solution would be to substitute cotton twill tape, which could be dyed to match the belt and wouldn’t have the slippage issue.

At this point, I’m definitely thinking that I’ll need to pull apart the belt, though I’m not sure I want to go through all that trouble to fix the backing if I can’t figure out a way to stop the belt from folding over on itself.  I still have plenty of yarn left, so I suppose I could design a different belt without all the frills, just something functional, but i’m wondering if that would detract from the overall look.

Oh, well.  I suppose I need to mull over this for a while.  In the meantime, I plan on enjoying the tunic despite the uncooperative belt.
