Tomorrow’s another day
Okay, so not as much sewing progress as I’d hoped. I even got a little distracted with the yard work, so I didn’t get done exactly what I’d wanted to with that.
First it was the yard work. I really wanted to work on the front yard, since that is what everyone sees. We have our neighbor’s leaves all over our yard, most heavily in the flower beds, and all the flowers and bushes need to be trimmed back before they start looking like weeds. However, I wanted K to mow the back yard, which meant that I needed to pick up the windfall apples and lemons first. Once I started that, I figured I should tackle some pruning while I was back there. I managed to partially climb the apple tree to get at some of the branches that were headed straight up. The lemon tree was a bit more difficult, since it is still in full leaf. I at least managed to lop off all the low hanging branches–it creeps me out to have to duck under the branches while I’m hunting for a good lemon–I always think that spiders are going to drop into my hair. (Yes, sometimes I’m a bit irrational.) Anyway, the lemon tree obviously needs more pruning–it’s got about a dozen branches headed straight for the sky that I can’t reach and a couple of branches that are headed for our neighbor’s yard–but I can’t do that until we get a ladder. Oh, I just remembered that we probably have a couple of ladders in the workshop since my dad and brothers have been putting the ceiling up. Duh. I’ll have to pull one of those out tomorrow.
So, yes, I have to do more yard work tomorrow. It’s tomorrow or nothing, since the forecast for the rest of the week is rain and high winds. Hmmm…maybe if I wait, all the leaves will be blown away and I won’t have to deal with them.
As far as the sewing goes, I only managed to finish the hem on the base skirt. K took about a two hour nap during which I finished hand sewing the hem and watched Sense and Sensibility. (I was really in the mood for Emma, but I only have that on VHS and my VCR player recently fizzled.)
So, tomorrow, I’m planning on getting up at a decent hour. (K wants to go out to breakfast in the morning before work, so getting up should be pretty easy.) I’ll do an hour or so of yard work. That won’t be enough time to get it all done, but at least it will look a bit more kept up. Then I’ll work on one of the flounces, at least getting the hem done and one or more of the tucks. In the afternoon, I’m heading up to see mom, plus I need to stop at B&N to return a book that K decided he doesn’t really want. In the evening, I really should get some school work done; I’ll be pleased if I can get through at least one class, preferable two if I start with the seniors because the juniors and the AP class will take a lot longer to grade.
Okay, those are my grand plans. Let’s see how it goes.
