My most seaming virtuous queen

It’s always a good day when you can quote Shakespeare in your title.  And, no, I didn’t misspell anything thing–I sewed last night!  Not much, admittedly, but it was something at least.  I got another flounce hem done.  I have to put the skirt aside for the moment, though, in order to get a mock up of the bodice done.  Bridget is available to do a fitting with me this weekend, which I’d like to take advantage of.  She is also going to help me dye the fringe.  Yay!

Can I just say that I can’t wait until the studio is done.  (I’m going to call it a studio now, since workshop doesn’t really describe what it is going to be.)  I need to get my sewing away from the kitties!  I can’t leave anything out.  They knock stuff off of every surface no matter how heavy or high it is.  The only thing they haven’t managed to get onto is the shelving that K’s transformers are displayed on.  Everything else seems to be fair game.

Not sure what I’ll get done tonight.  I’ve got a meeting after school and then finally have to make dinner tonight.  (I haven’t cooked in nearly a week with all the leftovers we’ve had.)  I should also go to the gym.  But who knows, maybe I’ll get my bodice mock up cut out.  I definitely want to get another crocheted hat started.  I found another pattern for an earflap hat.  I really like the first pattern I used, but I don’t want to risk spending all that time and resources on a hat if it isn’t going to shrink enough again.  I’d be very put out.  So, I’m going to go with a different pattern that isn’t exactly what I want–it uses a thicker yarn that is made up looser.  The worst part is that this one won’t be 100% wool; it will turn out softer, but I’m not sure it will be as warm.

I’m tempted to just wing my own pattern.  I have an idea of how to put this together based on the two hats I’ve done so far, so I just might be able to pull it off.  It would be even better if I could do it with what’s left of the wool yarn I used for the first hat.  Then, K and I would have matching hats.  Too cute!  No, really, maybe a little too cute.

Oh, and I watched Project Runway last night!  (Cutting here for spoilers and predictions.)  I am so glad I’m not one of the judges.  I never could have chosen between the top three.  Granted, it was a rather odd challenge, but I liked all three for what they were.  I was really surprised by who they chose to send home, though.  I thought for sure that Sweet P was a goner.  I really think that what saved her was redoing the top, making sure that at least the construction was good.  It then became a decision between two people who just didn’t do well on the challenge.  By that criteria, Sweet P didn’t have a very good design and hadn’t captured the essence of the character she was designing for, but Ricky’s mistake was worse.  He hadn’t succeeded in producing the desired garment at all, plus, he hadn’t made a garment that expressed the character.  It makes sense, I suppose.  I’m just really glad that Sweet P is still in it and that weepy emo Ricky is gone.  He got on my nerves sometimes.

At this point, I can’t really decide who I want to see in the final three.   I definitely think Christian and Jillian should be there.  I don’t typically love Christian’s stuff, but he really does a very good job and pays attention to details.  Jillian can put together some mediocre stuff, but when she is “on,” it’s fabulous.  I like Sweet P, but I don’t think she is consistent enough to make it through the next couple of challenges; this past challenge really showed that she still has trouble reconciling someone else’s vision with her own design sense.  It makes me thing she just isn’t a strong enough designer for this.  I also think Chris might not be up to the challenge; he does well on the challenges that are costumey, but when it’s not supposed to be, his stuff still turns out that way.  So, as much as his personality rubs me the wrong way sometimes, I think the third designer will be Rami.  He is pretty consistent, and I have liked some of his stuff.  Of course, I probably wouldn’t have been so set against him if he hadn’t treated Sweet P so abominably when they worked as a team.
