No end to the creativity

Yep, I learned something new this past weekend–making beaded fringe! So awesome, but incredibly time consuming and expensive. But still, much prettier than anything you can buy at the store, and in the long run, probably cheaper than buying a yard at a time of those stupid prepackaged things. Anyway, I’m currently wearing a pair of earrings that I made using one of the fringe designs the instructor started us on. Very cool.

My own class seemed to go very well. I even managed to pace the class well, ending just a few minutes early. I didn’t end up making it to the last class session. I was so wiped out after my own class that I just sat and chatted with a couple other board members.

When I got home, the creative juices were still flowing, so I started cutting out a modern dress. I’ve had this fabric since we went to Hawaii and decided last summer that I wanted to make a couple of Duros out of them. Of course, I never got around to them and the fabric has been sitting in my sewing room ever since; it’s even already washed! So, I pulled out one of them last night and got the print part cut out. Tonight I’m hoping to cut out the solid trim and assemble the bodice so that I can do a quick fitting. I’m making a smaller size than is recommended, and while the patterns typically run large, I’m still a bit concerned. The only reason why I’m not doing a mock up is because I’ve got plenty of the print fabric in case I goof. I know–not the smartest approach, but it works…or, hopefully it will work.
