CC26 or Bust!

Illness has delayed my progress a bit, so now I’m frantically trying to get things finished for the masquerade. I still need to:

Hand sew the back of the piping to the bodice lining. (1 hour)
Hand sew eyelets. (3 hours)
Finish the undersleeves. (1 hour)
Finish oversleeve embroidery. (1 hour)
Attach under and over sleeves. (1 hour)
Sew bertha (lace layers and pleated ribbon). (2 hours)
Sew pleats and bows to oversleeves. (2 hours)
Drape waistband of skirt. (1 hour)
Sew waistband and top flounce. (2 hours)
Attach skirt to bodice. (1 hour)
Make tucker and attach to bodice. (2 hours)
Make bouquet. (2 hours)

I’m probably missing something, but I’ve got a good 20 hours worth of work here, give or take. I’m hoping to knock some of this out in the evenings this week, but the bulk of it will need to be done on the weekend. Also, this doesn’t include little stuff I need to get done on the other costumes I want to wear:

My Cranach gown sleeves. (3 hours)
Adjustments to coif to cover hair more sufficiently. (2 hours)
New jedi belt. (3 hours)

Anyway, tons of work, so I’ve got to quit being a slacker and get motivated. Tonight, I need to deal with some of the handsewing. I’ll probably also work on the bouquet, since I need to go shopping for the flowers tonight.

I also need to go shopping for a washing machine tonight. On top of everything else that’s been going on, and all the current expenses (we owed lots of money on our taxes this year), I went and broke my washing machine. It’s the one that came with the house, and even though it says “large capacity,” it’s a fairly old machine and could not handle the load I tried to stuff in there this weekend. It started making a funny sound when it tried to spin and smelled like the motor was overheating. When I checked, the tub wasn’t spinning at all. Grrr. Anyway, we’ve decided just go get a new one, since this one is like 20 years old. We would spend over $100 fixing it and could very well end up with more problems down the road anyway. We’ve already done our online comparison shopping and have decided on a front-loader, as it will save water. I would have preferred a top-loader for dyeing, but a friend of mine recently mentioned in an online discussion that she successfully dyes in her front-loader, so it should be fine.

So, I’m not sure how much I will be posting with all the insanity, but I’ll definitely stop by to cross things off this to-do list. So, you’ll at least know that I’m alive and getting things done.
