Um, I just got an email late this afternoon from a representative from Berkeley City College. They want me to come in for a preliminary interview.

This is one of the schools that can get anywhere from 200-400 applications for each open position. Most of the time, they give preference to applicants with college teaching experience. Also, the associate professors automatically qualify for preliminary interviews. So, for me to actually make it to an interview is an accomplishment in and of itself. I’m ecstatic. Even if I don’t get offered the job, this is one step further than I got with my application last year. (I only sent an application to one college last year and got a letter about a month later saying thanks but no thanks.) What it means is that there is something about my current application/resume/letter of intent that interests potential employers. That’s huge!

K took me out for tapioca this evening to celebrate. I’m positively glowing. :)
