All work and all play makes me tired.

I haven’t been getting enough sleep. This was painfully apparent last night. By the time I got home from work, I had a pounding headach3 that would only subside when I laid down and closed my eyes. A bit of dinner also helped, and a couple of Advil, but I’m sure a full eight hours would be even better. Of course, that didn’t happen last night. I tried to get to bed by ten–I could barely keep my eyes open by that time–but it is really tough for me to fall asleep when K is still up and moving around. Still, I fell asleep much earlier than the past several nights and was on track to get at least a good seven hours. Then K and I were both woken up at four in the morning by some loud sound. We both got up and wandered around to make sure it wasn’t in the house–both the cats were fine and the house hadn’t been broken into, so we went back to bed and I tried to fall asleep. I tossed and turned for about an hour until just before my alarm went off. Then I tried to sleep in between hitting the snooze button for nearly another hour. So, I’m still a bit groggy today, but at least the headache went away.

In other news, I have more ideas for my Firefly dress and think I’m just about ready to get started. I know that means I’ll have two costumes going at once, but what’s new–I’ve always got multiple crafts/projects/obsessions going at the same time. The design I’m leaning toward right now, however, would be much better if I could find some stretch velvet to use rather than my microvelvet. (I love the micro, but it won’t exactly drape how I’m imagining. Besides, I can always save the micro for a Victorian costume, as I’d originally planned.) I think I’ll swing by Fabric Depo later this afternoon to see if they have any stretch velvet in a suitable color and maybe a matching sheer for the sleeves.

Okay, I’d better get going for now. I’ve got a little more grading to do before I’m ready to turn in progress reports. Plus, I need to get things ready for tomorrow’s sub before I can leave here today.
