The Hermit Speaks

Yes, I’m alive.  Yes, I’m busy.  Jury is still out on whether or not I’ll survive this election season.  Let’s just say that in a mud-slinging war, it’s the one in the middle that gets hit the most.

The news:

I’ve been reading A LOT.

I went to the NKOTB concert.  Fun.  And funny.  Two very different things.  (Think women who ransacked their closets for their old ’80′s legwarmers, neon leggings, etc., and a band that performed a variety of old songs that they had simply sped up along with dance moves that are nearly two decades old.  Yes, very funny indeed if you have any sense of humor at all.  I just couldn’t figure out if they did all this because they have a sense of humor about themselves or because they actually think people are still into that stuff.)

Work is kicking my butt.  If I can just make it to winter break, I should be good.

And that’s it.  I think.  Brain is kind of fried right now after four hours of grading.

Goodnight.

Good to hear from you…though the NKOTB thing is kind of scary….
Had no idea they were performing together, talk about living in the past.
Glad you had a little fun though!

I definitely couldn’t help laughing out loud. In some ways, it was like being at a family reunion where your old Uncle Leon is showing you he great dance moves and you can’t figure out if he is being totally tongue-in-cheek about himself, or if he really thinks he is still all that. I will say that I was totally impressed with how in shape they all were. I mean, I’d seen Donnie in a couple of movies and he was looking a bit pudgy–you know, he had a sort of middle-aged, bear drinker sort of look to him. But for the tour, he has really slimmed down. He looks better now than he did when he was a kid. I’m sure all the old Donnie fans are looking at their friends who were all about Joe and Jordan, shaking their heads and saying, “See, I told ya!”

Anyway, enough about all that. It was totally fun, and there were a lot of LOL moments, but I’m just not a fangirl anymore. At least, not of that sort of thing.
