About

This blog is about the many facets of my life, including my work, my family, and my hobbies.

Work=Teaching

You’ll hear lots from me about this, though I try to keep the rants to a minimum or make them private.  Mostly, you’ll just hear me complain about how much work I have to do and how far behind I am on my grading.  I’ve been doing this for 8+ years and, while it has gotten a little easier, it’s still a ton of work.

Family=1 Husband, 2 Parents, 2 Brothers, 2 In-Laws, 1 Sister-in-law, and 2 kitties

…and a partridge in a pair tree!

No, but really.  I have a very close-knit family and so occasionally blog about them and our doings.  I’ve also recently gotten married, bought a house, and adopted two kitties, so I have lots to say about all that.

Hobbies=…Where do I begin?

I actually have quite a few creative hobbies that I don’t have nearly enough time for.  I scrapbook.  I crochet.  I write.  My primary pasttime, however, is sewing.

My mother taught me how to sew from the time I could hold a yarn needle and thread.  I first started sewing my own clothes when I was nine.  A little over seven years ago, I got drawn into the historical costuming world, followed shortly by a stint in fantasy and science fiction costuming thanks to a few notable film trilogies.

I’ve gone back to focusing primarily on historical costuming, with an occasional dabble in sci.fi./fantasy and modern clothing.  Oh, and of course, I took almost all of 2006 off from just about all my hobbies to make my wedding dress and plan my wedding.  Now that I’m married, I’m slowly getting back into the habit of sewing as I attempt to reorganize my life.
