2009 Sewing List
My main goal this year is to make everything out of the stash. My fabric stash has just gotten way out of hand. I have a lot of fabulous fabric that is just sitting around and needs to be used. So, everything on this list is something that I already have fabric for.
Completed
This section will remain blank until I get something done.
Planned
1. Tudor Gown for GBACG event.
I have a rust colored cotton velvet and gold silk brocade to use for this project.
2. Something 18th Century.
I’ve got fabric for at least three different outfits, so I just need to decide which one to make up first. It will entirely depend on what events are happening this year, when they will take place, and what I’m in the mood for. Oh, and I kind of want a new corset as well.
3. Regency dress.
I have this darling fabric that I’ve been meaning to make into a Regency dress for years now. The GBACG has an event coming up this year, so maybe I’ll finally get this made up. I’m thinking that I’ll also try out the bodice petticoat or some half-stays, as I think they may be more comfortable than the full corset while in a picnic setting.
4. Bustle dress.
This is another era that I have fabric for quite a few different dress options. The only problem is that I still have not made a bustle. I need to just buckle down and get it done, so this will probably be my big summer project this year.
5. Edwardian dress.
Another dress that I’ve been wanting to make for several years, with the fabric hidden under a pile in my sewing room. Part of the problem with this one is that I need all new foundation garments. The other problem is that I don’t have an impending event to light a fire under my butt. So, if I do work on this dress, it will have to be one of my summer projects, and I won’t know when I’ll have a chance to wear it. So, don’t hold your breath for this one.
6. 1840′s striped silk dress.
At this risk of sounding like broken record, here is yet another dress that I’ve been hanging on to fabric for for years. I usually only make a new Dickens dress if there is another event during the course of the year that I’ll wear the dress to…in other words, I make the dress for the event and not for Dickens. So, the chances of this one getting done are not all that great and will depend upon what else I have going on at the time.
7. Veronese gown
I’m only putting this one on here because I have the perfect fabric for this project and would love to make it, but I don’t really have a reason to make it right now. Even if I do finally decide to go to a Ren. Faire this year, I can always wear my Tudor gown rather than make something new.
